New Arrangements for Worship - Letter from our Minister Claire

Dear friends,

This week’s letter is a reminder about the details for Easter and beyond. There will be services in church and on Zoom on Maundy Thursday at 7pm and on Easter Sunday at 10.30am. Both of these will include Holy Communion. If you are coming to the church building the same restrictions apply that have been in place on previous occasions:

* You must wear a mask/face covering (unless you are exempt)

* Social distancing will apply

* No singing is permitted (the government tightened this restriction in the last lockdown so no quiet singing behind your mask is permitted now).

* You must arrive and leave as quickly as possible and not stay around to chat to folk after the service. We are still required to complete track and trace documentation so if you wish to attend a church service then you need to book a place by contacting Linda Foster on:

07770 539402 or e-mail:

You will also need to contact Linda if you would like to receive communion elements for the extended communions on Maundy Thursday and Easter Sunday. Please be in touch by this Sunday 28th March for this so that we can arrange delivery. A small group will be gathering on the evening of Sunday 28th at church to share in communion and consecrate elements for these two services. Communion prayers can be said over the phone so if you are not able to Zoom and would like to take communion on these occasions then please be in touch with me or Maggie directly and we can make the necessary arrangements. It is generally helpful to book a place at a church service by the preceding Wednesday of each week to enable us to prepare accordingly.

From Easter Sunday, the church will be reopening for Sunday worship but there may be times when the preacher/ leader(s) of worship aren’t in church but Zooming from home. Please remember to not arrive too early for worship, any time from 10.15am onwards is okay, and that we currently have no provision for children and young people at our Sunday services.

The church will also be open on Easter Saturday, 3rd April from 10am-12noon for an opportunity to drop off handcreams that will then be distributed to keyworkers in our local area with Easter greetings and our appreciation for all that they have done (and are doing!) during the pandemic. Please bring along a flower or small posy of flowers that can be used to decorate the cross ready for Easter Sunday.

Finally, with regard to Easter, it will not be possible for the usual Christians Together in Fareham Good Friday witness to take place in West Street this year due to the ongoing restrictions. However, Holy Trinity and St Columba will lead us in Good Friday reflections online from 10.15am with a 10.30am start and the Zoom code for this will be distributed early next week along with some short written reflections for Holy Week.

Lastly, a gentle reminder that we move the clocks forward one hour this weekend.

Don’t forget! Stay safe and well everyone,
